Message If he's talking about using the Endyne 9.5:1 (or whatever ratio) pistons, they're claimed to have reshaped piston tops that actually give the endynes detonation-resistance properties greater than even stock TT pistons. I haven't seen anything to verify this claim, but nothing to contradict it either.

But if the pistons work as they're supposed to, then he wouldn't have to sacrifice max boost, and would get better spoolup and a broader powerband.

Also, water injection could be used to compensate for higher compression.

As for why higher compression pistons will give better spoolup, the more the gas/air mixture is compressed, the more energy it will have when it is detonated, translating into higher velocity exhaust gasses. The greater exhaust flow spools up the turbine faster. In addition, the motor will make more power "off boost" as well, which means more low-end power in the rpm-range before the turbos can kick in, and a more respnsive engine overall too, because the engine is not relying as much on boost to make power.

hope this helps
